Friday night blogging: Jazz and world music courtesy of Fip Radio , (my favourite radio station and easily found on their own website or via Tune In Radio ) complemented (?) by the cat calls and alpha male roars of revellers and freshers strutting their stuff on the street below. So what’s new with me? Since Wales I have been busy painting and am quite pleased with my … Continue reading My 50th Post…
I stayed in and had a go at using up scraps to make these sweet little business card* holders. Of course you can keep your own in there or have one spare for when you receive someone else’s. I think that person would be quite chuffed if they saw you put their card in such a case rather than fold it into your breast pocket. … Continue reading It’s Sunny! So What Did I Do Today?
And in between painting I have been doing a little sewing. Since my friend took me too fabric heaven in Chichester some months back I’ve had it in mind to make a present for someone for two someones….not you Rich! I won’t say more now as it will give away too many surprises but I’m very excited and will show you a glimpse of the … Continue reading And in between…Baby Blankets!
Well, en le Citroen Picasso really but the weather remained too windy to paint right outside. As promised here are my paintings. They are postcard size so they are quite tiddly. Now that I’m back in the house I’m painting on a bigger size canvas but this is what I did in New Polzeath and Bude whilst parked up. They are all acrylic on canvas … Continue reading En Plein Air
Here are a few piccies of our Cornish hol so far. I’ve been playing around with the Snapseed app on them which mum has installed on her iPad. I might get it as its good fun to use and has certainly added a bit of drama to these pics today. Here’s a pic of the boats at Boscastle, looking in towards the village from the … Continue reading A Few Cornish Tasties!
Watch this space! Today Devon Country Diary and I head to North Cornwall for our mini painting holiday. The car is loaded and our sandwiches made. Sun shining at the moment but rain is forecast in a couple of hours. Here are the blank canvasses we intend to fill with artistic creation. Rather daunting!!! I’ll show the results regardless of wether I’m pleased with them … Continue reading Watch This Space!
I won’t show you the whole picture as the project I’m working on is a gift for a friend but here is my latest sewing project. And here is the Japanese fabric quilt which has reached stage 3. The strips I cut with Devon Country Diary’s rotary cutter have all been sewn together. Dark light dark light. What a difference a rotary cutter makes! Straight … Continue reading A Little Sew Sew
What I learnt today was how to make a friendship bracelet. I’ve made 3 now and am enjoying using up some of the embroidery threads I have that are threatening to take over my flat. I got the technique off the Purl Bee website having never learnt it whilst I was at school. Friendship bracelets along with Pom Pom making seemed to belong to … Continue reading What I Learnt Today
Yes yes yes! My first quilt is finished…for now. There is a little hand-sewing to finish off from where I turned it through and i need to add my own mark but certainly it is a proper quilt now rather than lots of strips of fabric. Instead of 3 separate layers i have put the colourful layer onto fleece fabric. Turquoise and Egg Yolk Yellow. … Continue reading Quilt Finished! Well Nearly!
