Lots to catch up on so I’m going to whizz through it as I remember it.
We’d moved in so it was still a case of decorating and getting the house just so. I spent a lot of time in the garden enjoying the view and planting a few herbs which later got decimated by my new foe the slugs.
A sunny visit to Frome Market:
And an unusual project at work which kept me busy until July and my holiday to Lake Garda with Mum, Nan and Evelyn. Making and ageing cartwheels to be transformed into three rustic chandeliers for the latest Soho House acquisition.
And then this:
Phew what a scorcher! Our trip to Italy was first up in July and temperatures reached 40 degrees centigrade on a number of days. At night it didn’t drop below 33c and even our trip into the Dolomites which was promised to be very cool indeed was a hot 25c but a welcome respite none the less. The trip into the mountains was the highlight for me. It was so beautiful.
We mostly relaxed by the pool or lake enjoying gelato or Aperol Spritz and reading but we also visited Verona where I tasted my first Amarone and Ripasso, my two new favourite wines, took the boat to Garda for market day and walked along the lakeside. A truly relaxing and interesting holiday.
Went to the Theatre Royal to see She Stoops To Conquer. Not bad.
All aboard the Kennet & Avon canal for Rich’s birthday boat trip. A grey but wonderful day out on the historic canal with a picnic lunch and ice creams purchased from another boat.
July was also wonderful for flowers and out on my lunchtime walks I was able to photograph these which looking out of the window today you would not credit they ever actually existed. Enjoy!
Admittedly some of these flowers are in the landscaped gardens at Hauser & Wirth in Bruton but many are just alongside the roadside around Box.
A month of rain.
Matt, Mo and Grania visit, Anna, Bob and Dan visit and we go to the Bristol Kite festival and late in August I go to London enjoying the sights, the Design Museum and the spectacular Kew Gardens. Clifton to see the latest Luke Jerram installation in Leigh Woods. Immigrant Swing at The Bell and making a thousand billion robot lamps for Conran Shop. It rains every day.
